San Antonio to Johnson City

Bandera Texas Hill Country

Kerrville-another creek

The drive today was so pretty. The area reminded me a lot of the Valley or Ventura north of LA. It is fun to drive and I am sure in springtime when all the trees are green it must be so beautiful. The drive between Bandera and Kerrville is especially nice, with loads of little creeks and seas you cross or drive by and miles over miles of oak tree forests. Kerrville seemed to be a very welcoming little town but I wanted to drive a bit further to the Enchanted Rock State National Area, 18 miles north of Fredericksburg, which includes a massive 440 foot high dome of pink granite, the second largest batholith on the continent. I was looking for a big stone and was blown away ( literally :P ) when I saw this mountain that was in fact a ……big huge stone! I had fun hiking up this guy and enjoyed the view while standing on this surreal monument. Very impressive.
