Hanksville to Moab to Loa

The Arches National Park was beautiful, strange and colorful. Not necessarily the arches but the landscape itself. And not only the park but the entire landscape I was driving through from Hanksville north to Moab and back south to Loa was just incredible pretty and variing. Every 20 miles I found myself in another moon-like, foreign landscape, with totally different formations, shapes and colors ( I even saw mountains with green rocks!). I cannot remember visiting a similar impressive place on earth. Utah took my breath away.

This was a section of the 4 miles trail to the double o arches that lead over this icy grade of one of those rock folds. Don’t let your children imitate me! I was quite sweating during these minutes.

When I came back to the parking lot after my little hike I freaked out when I discovered that I almost had no profile left on my front tires. I was about to call the AAA to ask for the closest tire guy but of course there was no reception so I drove to Moab and was very happy to find a tire guy. The very nice man ask me if I ever touched the tires, replaced them, changed the front tires to the back etc and I said no, no and no. He said that the tires would still be good till Los Angeles if I would avoid dirt roads. He said he would assume that this is what I was driving on in the past as he could tell from the dirt crust at my car. Anyway. I got new tires in Moab and felt a lot better. He also ask me if I checked the pressure in my spare tire and I had to grin again and said …well with the thumb…we had some quite funny moments and I had to laugh out loud a couple of times. He insisted  to check the spare tire so I unloaded the trunk…(me: It is embarrassing messy..he: oh no, that’s nothing, I have seen much worst )…and as it turned out: no air in the spare tire. When I do my next road trip I will be REALLY prepared.
