Cloudcroft to Alpine

cloudcroft coffe place -awesome ! right next to the gas station

After five days of non-tea-like-coffee deprivation I found this oasis of a coffee place right next to the gas station in Cloudcroft. Minutes before I had a funny little conversation in my head about the “rat hole of motel” and had to laugh out loud about it.  This place changed my rating from two to six on a scale of ten for Cloudcroft. Good Coffee, very unique ambiance and they even had breakfast! After five minutes I had my first Americano in five days and was happy. What a great start of the day!

carlsbad cavern 02

The Carlsbad cavern turned out to be a almost two hour hike. My blood pressure made some trouble due to the strange air in this incredible huge cave (two hours and I hiked and didn’t strolled!) Somewhat interesting when I think of me the former claustrophobic. Ten years ago nothing would have allured me to enter the cave much less enter the elevator that would run for a minute.

observatory fort davis

I had the so far most incredible sunset drive through the Davis Mountains near the MacDonald Observatory, TX. The sky was pink, the landscape gentle. So beautiful. I only drove through Ford Davis but it seems to be a very welcoming town as is Alpine, where I headed to for another 20 more miles until the sun finally disappeared. The area near the Big Bend National Park is a very beautiful and peaceful place on earth. I like it here very much. I am back in a warm climate ( finally!), it is very remote only a few miles north of the Mexican border, the towns are in a good condition, people are friendly. I love it.

I am very tired and very, very happy.
