Alpine to San Antonio

long boring freeway number 10

It is a loooooooooooooooooong……

still boring

and boooooooooring drive to San Antonio…so I started taking pictures of myself

me freaking bored taking pictures from myself

and my car, the moving trash can, that I am going to spare you. As a friend once noticed when I had to make space for her on my co-driver seat :” …right I forgot….Andrea living in her car…” My car was somewhat like my purse just in a bigger scale. I had my inline skates plus protectors, my helmet and vest, three different pairs of shoes (work, beach, decent), several pieces of clothing for different weather conditions, an extra leash, wax, maps, a book about hiking trails around LA, trash, Starbuck trash, food in case I would starve, water, hats, my tripod for my camera and stuff I just bought and/or forget in the car.

……

I am so positively surprised by San Antonio. I really didn’t expect that. It is a good place to be. I have a wonderful view from my hotel balcony (which is almost as important to me as the view). I love balconies, love it, sit there right now. Its so nice. Like a late summer night right before a thunderstorm I feel like checking the sky for clouds but there aren’t. It is just the way it is.

incredible view from my balcony at the holiday inn riverwalk

san antonio is sooo pretty

I am not used to it anymore and I was surprised to experience such a vivid outdoor life with people actually strolling along the Riverwalk! It was packed. I swam with current.

carriage on fire

Can you see the carriage with Christmas decoration? I was confused for a moment, when I was standing on Almo Plaza with all the carriages, the smell of horses and the one huge building with the columns. I felt like back on those plazas in Vienna on a dark winters night and I felt really uncomfortable for a moment.  When I left the plaza I thought about LA where almost none of the buildings is older than 50 years. Such a relief.

some old building

An old building. Some battle,  some winner, some loser -a lot of mythology. I read the explanation on the stone nearby twice and it didn’t make sense to me. It doesn’t matter. Just stories. There are no winners  in wars or battles. Both sides are doomed to loose, either their dignity or their humanity. The building itself was worth a picture though.

building in dessous san antonio

A building in dessous :) my favorite!!!!!
